Life is What You Make It!

If you are reading this, you are probably quite familiar with blogging. Blogging is more than a form of expression; I have found it to be a form of community. I can't even begin to tell you all the interesting connections I have made through writing my blog and reading other's blogs. Truly amazing!

A few months ago, I "met" a blogger who also happens to be a quilter. Most of my friends know how I love quilting. My friends also know I rarely have time to quilt...or HAD time, I should say, because my new bloggy friend Tracey has inspired me to "find" time for what I truly want to do. She is also very generous. First, she sent Coral a care package to make this quilt. Then, she surprised ME with a care package of my own. I decided to stop making excuses and get sewing!!

So, in four days, I made this:

It's only throw-sized (about 40 x 66), but it's just about right for a sofa throw or to cuddle up and read under.

Here's the back:

I love adding a bit of piecing to the back...new territory for me, but I really like the way it looks!

As soon as I began piecing this I knew two things: who would be its recipient, and that I wanted to free-motion quilt cute flowers on it. I practiced a little on some scraps and then decided to just jump in and go for it! I'm pleased with the results. What do you think? This is the front:

And here's some quilting on the back:

Tracey gave me her "rules" of quilt photography, which I obeyed. However, what she failed to mention is that one has to have at least a TINY bit of photography talent to pull it off! Guess it doesn't run in the family...figures!!
